Charming Barbizon Village: A picturesque countryside scene captured in the style of classic painters

Barbizon

The City of Painters (11 km)

For art lovers, Barbizon is something of a pilgrimage site. This small town, located just a few minutes from the La Belle Étoile campground, was in fact one of the centers of Pre-Impressionist painting in France. Starting in 1830, it welcomed the painters of the time as they sought inspiration. From this era, the town has inherited beautiful collections that can be admired at the “Musée des Peintres de Barbizon,” housed in the Auberge Ganne, where the painters used to frequent.
